Shooting Star (Dodecatheon pulchellum) is a species of pink flowering plant in the primula family. It is native to the western United States. The sprays of distinctive swept-back deep pink petals give this flower its common name, resembling tiny cyclamen blossoms. Shooting Star has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.

The plants are hardy down to -15 degrees F.  They prefer a sheltered location in partial shade with neutral or acid soil in a moist woodland setting.

Seeds should first be sown onto flats. Sink the flat into the ground in an area that offers shade, preferably close to a wall that faces north. Provide a glass or plastic covering. Keep soil moist. Seeds take from 1-6 months to germinate. After 2 years, transplant the seedlings in their final location in autumn.
